It's not lost on me how AI can help automate many of the cumbersome aspects of recruitment and hiring. However, these days, it does feel a bit much. There have been several instances where my team has interviewed virtual/AI/bot/not real candidates – not just reviewing resumes, but conducting actual interviews. Conversely, I've heard of people being interviewed by "virtual" recruiters, which removes the entire human experience from what is essentially a critical part of the hiring process.

I'm personally not in favor of it and would rather spend the time screening candidates myself aka eat the hours. As others have noted, screening is less about matching resumes and more about understanding whether candidates have intrinsic motivation and adaptable attitudes. In other words, what isn’t the resume telling me? There’s definitely an art and science to it that big companies have figured out, but for smaller businesses, I think this is where you unexpectedly find the “unicorn” of your dreams. You lose out when AI becomes the first “face” of interaction. To be clear, there’s also a difference between AI and AI assistance. I’m all about getting intentional help.

There’s obviously no stopping AI, and this post will resonate within the echo chambers of those who live in the simulation. In other words:

WE. ARE. COOKED.

So, this is where I’m at.. imagining what it would be like to stumble upon a bot in the dating world (sorry to those who are actually dating/suffering).
